Okay, it is official – I love Suju’s ‘Sorry, Sorry’ performances. Really. I feel about them the way I felt about SHINee’s LLO performances and DBSK’s ‘Wrong Number’ performances and I just can’t get enough of them. They’re all really, really good! (Ok, well, not all but most of them are.) And today’s was no different – I always say that the best performances happen on Inkigayo. There were so many good points but I’ll just try to list the highlights for you.

Whoo-Hoo!
March 29, 2009Suju won again! Whoo! Yay! The acceptance speeches were a lot less tearful this time around and as usual, Heechul stole everyone’s attention by picking up Hongki and spinning him around in a big bear hug while the rest of his members were having their own group hug. LOL, typical Heechul. I think only Leeteuk cried this time, although Kangin looked a little emotional in the background – good to see that even manly Kangin gets emotional sometimes. ^^
Oh, and the performance was fantastic! It was one of their better ones for sure. Lots of energy, everyone looked and sounded good – although I do wonder if this choreo isn’t a bit much for Kyuhyun, he always seems to be a bit out of breath towards the end – and I’ve even stopped being surprised when Heechul shows up. As usual, the camera angles are very well done, although not as good as the previous Inkigayo performances and there’s a cool switch in the choreo towards the end of the performance that I really loved. It was just very good. I really liked the touch of gold in their outfits as well, although it didn’t work for everyone as well as it did for some. Also I am still confounded by EunHyuk’s pants/socks – really I just don’t even know what to say about those. DongHae looks good though – I always like his outfits the best.
And finally, watch this performance – I demand it! (Please.)

It’s the latest Davichi performance of 8282 (Pali Pali) and I was appalled at how few views it had. These girls are extremely talented and their lives never disappoint – really, I’m always amazed at how good they are – and MinKyung’s even wearing a really cute military style jacket here so I don’t know why people aren’t watching their performances. Really, why are these girls so under-rated? So go do yourself a favour and watch the performance please even if you don’t like the song. It’s really incredible.
Oh, and fortunately the Suju housewarming party was really in last night’s WGM episode so I’m sure it will be up and subbed soon! For the time being, it’s already up on YT, just sans subs. I’ll be awaiting them patiently. Well, that’s it – enjoy the performances!

P.S:- I started watching Suju’s Adonis Camp show and LOL, I made it through three episodes in one night. Oh, the hilarity – it is ensuing. It’s amazing how one only needs to gather any number of Suju members together – just anyone – and something funny will undoubtedly occur. They are such a riot.

Relajate, todo el mundo – I’m still here.
March 28, 2009Well, since I’ve been uber-lazy as of late and I haven’t posted a thing – I figure I should do some kind of update so here goes…. first off, please go to this site and help others while you surf the web and improve your vocabulary – it’s Free Rice.com.

Yue Liang Dai Biao Wo De Xin
March 22, 2009The title is the name of one of the two few traditional Chinese songs that I know and I chose it because I just came across a video of Super Junior’s Kyuhyun, although here he’s acting as a member of Suju M, singing it on a Chinese tv show and OMG, it’s beautiful. He doesn’t even sing much and he doesn’t know all of the words and cuteness ensues as Han Geng comes up behind him and tries to feed him the words so that he can keep singing (oh, I knew Geng would make a good leader!) but in the end, he just turns the mic over to Han Geng and Siwon to finish up. (Siwon also has a really nice voice, imo) but all of that doesn’t matter because the 40 or so seconds that he sings sounds fantastic. My Gosh, his voice is just so beautiful – I really wish he sang the whole song. OMGee, you don’t know how happy I am to get to hear him sing that song just because I actually know it! And I feel bad now because I didn’t even pay that much attention when we were learning it in class but now I’ll definitely pay close attention when we learn songs because I might get to hear someone I know sing it and sound amazing and because it might help me prepare for my final exam.

Just…Catching Up
March 17, 2009Okay, so I’m not making any promises yet but I think that maybe you can begin to expect some regular Suju coverage from me from now on because well, I’m now a fan of theirs – and a big one by the looks of it. I spent this whole last week-end rooting through Youtube and watching any lengthy subbed clip of theirs I could find – I watched them on PKL’s Wonderful Outing, saw their ‘Coffee Prince’ parody and checked out their stint on the ‘3 Women, 3 Colour’ show. Honestly, it’s not much but it’s a start. (Hey, if you have any more to recommend, feel free!)

Super Junior Vol. 3 – ‘Sorry, Sorry’
March 13, 2009Listen to it here.
Hmm, well I don’t know about you but I like it. I’ve never listened to an entire Suju album before so I wasn’t sure what to expect – but I’m impressed. It’s very good, imo, and there are some really outstanding songs on it. Mind you, I’m only on my second listen so I’m still processing the songs. Some of my current favourites are:
Monster – I love this song. I think it’s got the potential to end up on my ‘favourite song of all time list’. High on the list. I just keep replaying it – it’s just….it makes me feel. I’m not sure exactly what I’m feeling but it’s very powerful.
Why I Like You – it was the second song that really stood out to me on the album and it’s extremely pretty – a lovely mix of sweetness and melancholy. In addition, I am really falling in love with Yesung’s voice, particularly in his ‘Yeah!’ here.
What If – So sad. Really heartbreakingly beautiful. Since I don’t think ‘Monster’ can be counted as a ballad, this has got to be my favorite ballad on the album. It’s just very moving and pure and their voices are so clear and distinct here, it’s really impressive.
Dead at Heart – This song is fantastic. Second favourite ballad, for sure.
Reset – I love this song now. Seriously, it’s a really nice mid-tempo track with a chorus that I wouldn’t call catchy so much as memorable and a rap that I am particularly fond of. I don’t often say this but I think it’s really a shame that there weren’t more rap parts in the album because the few that are there are really good. And as a bonus, here’s the first live performance of the song on the Suju comeback special segment of Sukira on Friday – it’s very good!
Honourable Mention: Club No. 1 – Honestly I really like this song – but only until Lee YeonHee’s part. No offense to her but I seriously dislike her high-pitched singing and I don’t think it was at all necessary for the song. That said, it’s a really good song and I love the way Super Junior sing here – it’s very cool.
Now I’m a new Suju fan so I really can’t say much about how this stacks up with their other stuff – all I can say is that I really like the album and I’m quite impressed. Now I’ve got my eye on Version B…I’m still trying to figure out if I should preorder it or just wait for the inevitable repackage. It all depends on how my feelings progress as I listen to the album more. If I’m really crazy about it, I’ll most likely end up pre-ordering – there’s still a little time. On Yesasia, it won’t be released until the 16th so I’ve still got a few days to think about it. Btw, does anyone know if the price will raise when it’s released? Because if that’s the case, preordering is looking a lot more likely. I really don’t know.
Oh, and apparently it’s been officialy confirmed that the MV will be released on the 13th. So hopefully that means that by the time I get home manana, I’ll have both the MV and the comeback performance to watch. Yay. Something to get me through the day.

I like you…just the way you are!
February 4, 2009So I’m listening to a little bit of J-pop on the side these days and I recently checked out Koda Kumi’s new album, TRICK because I listened to her ’stay with me’ winter single (also on this album) and really liked it – and I actually liked this album more. I’m thinking about buying it. Well, I’m not really into J-pop so other than her name, I didn’t know much about her beforehand but I think this album is a good starting point. Hmm, I won’t say any more since I’m thinking about doing an album review of it but I’d definitely suggest you check it out. She runs through a number of styles in it – pop, rock, hip hop, etc. and you’ll probably find at least one song you like. So for the mean time, I’ll just leave you with my personal favourite and what I consider to be the best song (because my favourite MUST be the best song, claro) on the album, Just the Way You Are.
She even released a video for it! I’m happy – it really is a great song and she looks lovely in the video and it’s pretty fitting for the song, if a little awkward at times. Anyway, I’m really digging her red plaid outfit.

Well, I hope you like it. Enjoy!

Don’t You Just Love Dance Battles?
January 25, 2009So the MBC New Year special of Dance Battle, featuring some of K-pop’s hottest talents (my words, not their’s) aired on the 25th in Korea and some of the videos are already up on YT. I’ve only seen about six or seven cuts so far but I gotta say it’s looking pretty good – if had thought about it, I would have watched it live since I was up then anyway but I forgot. Anyway, I’m no dancer so I can’t really say whose performance was the BEST but I can tell you whose dancing made the most of an impression on me. I’ll give you my top 3 and then I’ll just talk about the others.

Up and Coming!
January 25, 2009So since the boys are going on break, I’ve started paying attention to more people in an effort to find some folks to check out while they’re away. Here’s some of the people I’ve been keeping tabs on and my thoughts on them so far.

Nostalgia – I miss the Replay days…
January 18, 2009So I was bored earlier (bored? there are so many things I could have been doing!) and I started watching some old videos and I put on Replay and I had such a blast watching it that I ended up ~replay~ing it about four or five times.

Hmm, I think I might have said this before but I miss the Replay days. I miss the boys’ cute image. I mean, I know they haven’t that much and I really like Amigo and I loved LLO but I think they could have continued going the cute route for a little bit longer. I just miss how cute and young and fresh and awkward they were, how they were always bushy-tailed and bright eyed about everything, how they always looked happy and excited and eager and NOT tired, how they did a million interviews a week (I really miss that!) and I even miss their too bright clothing and matching graphic print tees. Hmm, I don’t know what to say…I guess I’m just feeling nostalgic. I know I’m just being silly – after all, everything changes and the cute thing would have gotten old after awhile but I just can’t help how I’m feeling.
